Talangakar Sandstone and Airbenakat Sandstone are included in the stratigraphy of the Jambi Sub Basin which is partof the South Sumatra Basin, located in Renah Mendaluh District, West Tanjung Jabung Regency, Jambi Province. Provenance determination is carried out by quantifying the mineral composition of the rocks microscopically, namely petrographic analysis of two samples. Talangakar Sandstone samples come from acidic or plutonic igneous rock in the form of medium-grade metamorphosed granite, in the Qt-F-L diagram the tectonic order comes from the Magmatic Arc in the sub Undissected Arc- Transitional Arc and in the Qm-F-Lt diagram the tectonic setting originates from Recycled Orogen in the Recycled sub Lithic. Inthe Airbenakat Sandstone, based on the quartz composition of one sample, the Airbenakat Sandstone comes from gneiss that is metamorphosed at a medium-high degree in the Qt-F-L diagramthe tectonic order comes from the Continental Block in the sub Transitional Continental, and in the Qm-F-Lt diagram tectonic order comes from Magmatic Arc in the Sub Mixed and in one other sampele it comes from low graded metamorphosed slateor schist, in the Qt-F-L diagram tectonic order comes from the Recycled Orogenic and in the Qm-F-Lt diagram the tectonic order comes from the Magmatic Arc in sub Mixed. The paleoclimate in which the Talangakar Sandstone was formed is included in a dry climate (arid) which originates from metamorphic rocks, while the Airbenakat Sandstone was formed during a humid climate (humid) which originated from plutonic rocks.
