Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan karateristik batubara pada Formasi Sembakung dengan metode pemetaan lapangan dan analisis kualitas batubara berupa analisis proksimat dan analisis nilai kalori. Hasil penelitian lapangan menemukan enam lapisan batubara pada Formasi Sembakung dengan ketebalan berkisar antara 0,92 meter s.d.1,40 meter. Kualitas batubara ditunjukkan oleh nilai rerata kelembaban 2,75 % (adb), kandungan zat terbang 20,96 % (adb), karbon tertambat 44,08 % (adb), kandungan abu 32,24 % (adb), sulfur total 6,27 % (adb). Nilai kalori berkisar antara 2.539 cal/gr s.d 6.212 cal/gr. Batubara termasuk
dalam jenis subbituminous sampai bituminuous (low volatile).
