About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Buletin Sumber Daya Geologi publishes original research articles and review articles on the inventory, exploration, evaluation, and utilization of geological resources, with an emphasis on Indonesia. The journal covers three main fields:

  1. Minerals – metallic and non-metallic minerals, rocks, critical minerals, and rare earth elements, including alteration and mineralization studies, ore deposit models, and mineral potential mapping.
  2. Fossil energy – coal, peat, coalbed methane, oil shale, and underground coal gasification, including resource characterization and value-added utilization.
  3. Geothermal energy – geothermal systems, fluid geochemistry, geophysical exploration, reservoir assessment, and direct utilization.

Across these fields, the journal welcomes studies applying geological mapping, geochemistry, geophysics, remote sensing and GIS, resource estimation and geostatistics, laboratory analyses, as well as studies on resource conservation, policy, regulation, and geological data management.

Peer Review Process

Every submitted manuscript is first screened by the editor for scope, format, and similarity. Manuscripts that pass screening undergo double-blind peer review by three reviewers with relevant expertise. Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editor in Chief decides to accept, request revisions, or reject the manuscript. Details are provided on the Review Process page.

Publication Frequency

The journal is published three times a year, in May, August, and November, with five articles per issue.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

Journal History

Buletin Sumber Daya Geologi was first published in 2006. It was accredited as a Grade "B" scientific periodical in 2010 and reaccredited in 2012 and 2015 (p-ISSN 1907-5367). The journal obtained its e-ISSN 2580-1023 in 2017. In 2018, it was ranked SINTA 2 by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education. In 2020, the journal retained its SINTA 2 rank under Decree of the Minister of Research and Technology/Head of BRIN No. 200/M/KPT/2020, valid from Vol. 15 No. 2 (2020) to Vol. 20 No. 1 (2025). The journal is currently undergoing the reaccreditation process. New submissions have been managed at https://journal.esdm.go.id/BSDG.
